Jada Pinkett Smith: Actress enjoys time away from her family

Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed how she finds time for herself despite juggling a busy career and home life.

The actress believes it’s important to have time alone away from her husband and kids.

‘I make sure I get jobs so that I can go away and have promotional tours and find an excuse to be alone,’ she tells People.

Jada, 39, has 2 children – Jaden, 10, and Willow, 8 today – with actor husband Will Smith.

‘I have a tight-knit family, we love each other, so we do whatever we need to make it work.’

Jada Pinkett Smith: Will is not a disciplinarian

Jada Pinkett Smith says she's usually the one who makes her kids stick to the rules.

The actress insists husband Will Smith, 40, is far more lenient with Trey, Jaden and Willow.

‘Daddy tends to [say], "Yeah! Have chocolate cake for dinner! It’s alright with me",’ she says.

‘I’ll come home and it’s just, "Has anyone had lunch?" "Yeah I had some Frosted Flakes!’"'

But Jada, 37, says they are both pretty laid back.

‘We’re not strict but we definitely believe it’s a very important component for rearing children,’ she tells People.

‘It creates safety for them. They need to understand that they need guidance.’

Jada is currently starring in TNT drama pilot Time Heals.

Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing at 'The Women Premiere'

Their latest flick is called The Women, so it was fitting that the movie's premiere should be a girly affair. Screen sirens Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith and Debra Messing teamed up with the rest of the all-female cast for a ladies' night to fete the sassy comedy drama on Thursday.

The new movie is a remake of the 1939 film of the same name, and focuses on a wealthy New Yorker - played by Meg - who leaves her unfaithful husband and strikes up friendships with other society women.

American Beauty actress Annette Bening was on hand for the red carpet event too, as were Sex And The City star Candice Bergen, model Eva Mendes and veteran entertainer Bette Midler.

It wasn't an exclusively girls-only do, though. Men In Black actor Will Smith turned out to support wife Jada, while Warren Beatty also played the role of supportive husband to wife of 16 years Annette.
