Shia LaBeouf back on set of Transformers sequel

Actor recovering well after collision

Shia LaBeouf has been filming scenes for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen following his car crash last month.

The actor was treated in hospital for a severe hand injury after his motor collided with an oncoming vehicle and flipped over twice.

He and his passenger, co-star Isabel Lucas, were out partying in Hollywood shortly before the incident.

Four weeks on, Shia, 22, is back on set with his hand in a bandage.

Producers have written the injury into the script.

Shia LaBeouf Heads to Rehab

Shia LaBeouf may be transforming himself into a sober twentysomething.

The 22-year-old actor—who broke his hand in a car accident last week and was charged with a DUI—may decide to enter rehab.

The arrest was LaBeouf’s second since November, and sources say that rehab could lead to reduced charges, reports Page Six.

“Judges like to see it,” a source told the paper.

His rep told the paper, “Right now, we’re focusing on Shia’s hand.”

Police have said the other driver caused the accident by running a red light, but the Transformers star is still facing a possible sentence for drunk driving. He will appear in court later this month.

Shia LaBeouf's Hand "Crushed"

There are new details about the extent of Shia LaBeouf's hand injury—and they're not pretty.

LaBeouf's left hand was "crushed" in last weekend's rollover car crash, and the young star will require "regular medical supervision until his doctors clear him to return to work," LaBeouf attorney Michael Norris said in a statement Friday.

There was no new timetable for LaBeouf's return to work on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the big-budget sequel the actor had been shooting. Earlier, pre-"crushed" reports said LaBeouf would be out a month.

A rep for Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the Transformers franchise, told E! News today that "no final decisions have been made" as to whether LaBeouf's injury will be written into the new movie. The studio is prepared to modify its schedule for LaBeouf as needed, the rep said.

Elsewhere, LaBeouf's publicist Melissa Kates declined comment on an Entertainment Tonight report that the 22-year-old had been released from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

LaBeouf's sick-bay journey began last Sunday when, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the pickup truck he was driving collided with a motorist running a red light.

"The other driver may have been traveling upwards of 50 mile per hour, and that driver may not have been looking forward at the time of the accident," Norris said.

The other driver and LaBeouf's passenger, Transformers costar Isabel Lucas, sustained minor injuries.

In the days following the crash, authorities went out of their way to note LaBeouf was not at fault. In his statement, Norris thanked "the many concerned citizens who have stepped forward to provide information regarding this collision."

LaBeouf still faces a misdemeanor DUI charge as officers responding to the crash found the injured actor was, the sheriff's department said, "exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication."

The recuperating LaBeouf, late of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has yet to be arraigned on the charge.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the sequel to 2007's Transformers, has been set for a June 2009 release.

Director: Shia LaBeouf “Was Not Drunk”

One week after Shia LaBeouf was arrested for a DUI and blamed in an accident, everyone seems to be on his side.

First, the cops announced the actor wasn’t at fault in the accident.

Now, even his boss, Transformers director Michael Bay says LaBeouf is innocent.

“You’re gonna see — that’s gonna go away,” Bay told Access Hollywood speaking of the actor’s DUI charge. “That’s fresh news… He was not drunk. He was drinking hours and hours before.”

Following the accident, the actor was taken to an area hospital where he was cited, arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI shortly before undergoing hand surgery Sunday morning. No worries for LaBeouf on how quickly his hand will heal, they plan to include it into the Transformers sequel.

“I spoke to him yesterday in the hospital,” Bay told Access. “His two fingers are pretty mashed, but we’re figuring out a way to shoot around it, kind of write it in the story.”

In spite of everything that’s happened, Bay insists the 22-year-old actor has his head on his shoulders.

“The kid really has his head together and you know, he’s only 22,” Bay said. “He’s doing a great job on this movie. He’s really matured since the last one and I love working with him.”

Shia LaBeouf Arrest For DUI

labeouf.jpg

Shia LaBeouf has been arrested for suspicion of DUI after being involved in a car accident. New details reveal he was also injured in the accident.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ LaBeouf was involved in a car accident at about 3:00 AM at the corner of La Brea and Fountain in Hollywood. Shia made a left turn in front of another car and the two collided, causing Shia’s car to roll.

Paramedics were called to the scene and both parties were taken to a local hospital, but originally the report was no major injuries were sustained.

LaBeouf was placed under arrest on suspicion of felony DUI after he exhibited “outward signs” of intoxication at the scene.

An update on the story is that LaBeouf badly injured his left hand and will need surgery.

A passenger in Shia’s car sustained minor head injuries and the driver of the other car sustained minor injuries as well.

Deputies are evaluating the case at the hospital right now to determine if LaBeouf will be booked on felony or misdemeanor DUI.

Word is Shia will be in the hospital “for a while.”

LaBeouf is no stranger to the law - in November, he was accused of drunken trespassing after refusing to leave a Chicago, Illinois convenience store at 4am, but the misdemeanor charges were subsequently dropped. Then, in February, he was charged with smoking in a prohibited area in California - to which he pleaded guilty and was forced to pay a $500 fine for the offense.

His latest legal woe comes just three months after he vowed never to get arrested again - because he didn’t want to hamper his promising film career.

In May, he said:

“There’s nothing cool about getting arrested for stupid stuff at my age. But it keeps happening to me. I could pretend that I find it all highly amusing, but I’d be lying. It’s deeply embarrassing. I decided a long time ago to stop doing stupid things, so clearly I’ve still got some work to do on myself. I’m not anonymous any more. Now, I light up a cigarette in the wrong place and overnight I’m the Al Capone of misdemeanors. What I’ve got in terms of acting is too important for me to jeopardize.”

Shia LaBeouf has a warrant out for his arrest. Will we be getting a new mug shot? I don’t know, his last one was pretty good. I don’t think he can top it..
