Naomi Campbell: Last year had two benign 9cm tumors removed from her adomen

Naomi Campbell says she had surgery to remove two benign 9cm tumours from her abdomen last year.

And during the op, which took place in Brazil, doctors realised one had leaked.

‘It wasn’t getting them out that was serious,’ she says. ‘It was the infection.’

‘Had I stayed with them in there for a further three months, they said I would have been in danger for my life.’

Naomi, 38, is currently dating Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin, 45, and says she's keen to have kids.

‘I’m not pressuring my partner but I’d love to have a baby,’ she tells The Mail on Sunday.

‘It’s every woman’s dream and I feel that's a huge part of my life that I'm yet to experience.’

Naomi Campbell: Sarah brown encourages me to help charity

Naomi Campbell says meeting Gordon Brown’s wife Sarah opened her eyes to lack of facilities for women giving birth in the Third World.

The model met Sarah to learn about the White Ribbon Alliance, which promotes safer childbirth. The PM's wife lost her daughter Jennifer Jane when she was just 10 days old.

‘When Sarah started talking I though she was going to cry,’ she says. ‘When someone’s talking from experience, it’s very touching.’

Naomi, 38, organised her recent Fashion For Relief show to raise money for the charity.

10,000 women die while giving birth every week, a figure that horrifies Naomi.

‘It’s a huge problem,’ she tells the Daily Mirror. ‘We’re very fortunate but these people don’t have the equipment to deliver a baby.

‘I connected with it, I’m a woman, I’d like to have kids.’

Naomi Campbell new face for Italian label Dolce and Gabbana

British beauty Naomi Campbell has always enjoyed a close relationship with top designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Now the fashion trio will be seeing more of each other after the Streatham-born star signed up to become the new face of their Italian label.

At an age when many supermodels are hanging up their heels, the 38-year-old beauty has reportedly been holding secret talks with the designers in a deal thought to be worth £1 million.

"They have a relationship that spans decades and now the plan is for Naomi to be their official muse and ambassador," a source told the Mail On Sunday newspaper. "She'll be at the shows and will star in their worldwide advertising campaigns."

Long-time good friends, the designers threw the catwalk queen a lavish party in Cannes earlier this year to celebrate her birthday, as well as donating several gowns for her Fashion For Relief charity show last Wednesday.

Naomi Campbell To Retire?

naomi-campbell-fashion-week.jpg

During New York Fashion Week British model Naomi Campbell, 38, hinted at retirement.

She has always felt reluctant to give up her career because there are so few black women in the industry, but has thought about quitting more since designers at New York Fashion Week used beauties of all races to showcase their creations.

She said:

“This time the designers and editors have stepped it up. I feel positive. That means I can go soon.

“My gut instinct is to get women of colour out there whether I’m still in fashion or not. I’ll be very happy when I’m 55 years old to pick up a magazine and see a lovely spread with a black woman. Then I’ll know I didn’t work for all these years only to see it go backwards.”

Despite what she perceives to be a changing attitude, the 38-year-old supermodel hopes it is more than a passing trend adding:

”The recent issue of Italian Vogue magazine where they only used black models shouldn’t make it briefly fashionable to be black and then unfashionable again.”

Naomi spends Labor Day at the Classic Horse Show in The Hamptons

Also making the most of the last official days of summer was mother and daughter team Christie Brinkley and Alexa Ray Joel, the model's child with musician Billie Joel.

Other famous faces attending the event included Ivana Trump, Kelly Klein - Calvin Klein's ex - and Alec Baldwin.

Naomi Campbell felt a connection to the Great Sphinx of Giza Egyptian landmark

Naomi Campbell felt a spiritual connection to the Great Sphinx of Giza.

The supermodel spoke to the half-lion, half-human Egyptian landmark while on a personal tour conducted by secretary general of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities Zahi Hawass.

Hawass said: "She is particularly interested in the Great Sphinx of Giza. She claims she feels a great spiritual connection to it. I took her to visit and she started talking to it."

However, the acclaimed archaeologist cannot reveal what Naomi said to the decaying statue.

He added: "That is a secret. She wouldn't even tell me."

The bizarre revelation comes shortly after Naomi hit out at Kabbalah - the mystical Jewish faith whose followers include Madonna and Demi Moore - comparing it with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

The tempestuous model said: "I knew about Kabbalah before Madonna got involved. Kabbalah is not a religion, it's a program.

"I don't like getting hooked on things like that. It reminds me of AA but just with different words.

"They've got the same principles. We're all looking for positivity in our lives and looking towards the light but I just believe in God.

"I am religious. I pray most days and do my thing. But each to their own."

Supermodel: Naomi Campbell cradles babies in maternity ward

The broody 38-year-old seemed in her element with the little ones when she dropped in to the maternity ward of a Lagos clinic, accompanied by fellow model Tyson Beckford

We're used to seeing Naomi Campbell sashaying along a catwalk or swanning around on the international party circuit. On a visit to Nigeria this week, though, the glamorous London-born model was showing off a more domestic side as she cradled babies in a maternity ward.

In contrast to her fiery image, the cover girl was a picture of tenderness as she lifted several of the tiny patients at the Lagos clinic out of their cribs for a hug. Time spent with the children of friends like Kate Moss - whose daughter Lila is five - seems to have paid dividends, as Naomi supported one newborn in the crook of her arm with an expert touch.

The catwalk star has been talking lately about her readiness to become a mother. "I know that with a baby I'd calm down," said the supermodel, who recently embarked upon a new relationship with a millionaire businessman. "With a child... you have to give your full self."

Her companion on the trip, during which she distributed sackloads of gifts to expectant and new mums, was model Tyson Beckford. The photogenic pair were in the country to attend the This Day Africa Rising concert, which aimed to show the continent in a positive light.

On October 14 another Africa Rising gig is being held in London's Albert Hall and Naomi has called on pals like Kate, Lily Cole and footballer Ferdinand Rio to give the event their backing.

Quote Of The Day

naomi-campbell.jpg

“I travel a lot. I love traveling. It’s peaceful in the air. Nobody can get me there. What has been written about me is out of the hemisphere. Just wrong. I don’t care if they call me a bitch. A bitch is someone defending their rights. I’m a fighter. I’ve learned to meditate, to give myself some breaks during the day. I’ve rediscovered my good humor.”
