Heather Locklear was charged with driving under the influence of prescription medication on Saturday night (27.09.08).

The former 'Melrose Place' actress - who checked herself into an Arizona treatment facility in June to seek treatment for "anxiety and depression" - was stopped at around 4.30pm after displaying erratic behaviour while driving in Barbara County, California.

Tom Marshall, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol (CHP), said: "Around 4.30pm, a female witness saw Heather Locklear driving erratically while leaving a parking lot. The witness said Locklear was revving her engine loudly, and backed over a pair of sunglasses several times.

"The witness called 911 because she was concerned for Locklear's safety. When a CHP officer arrived, Locklear was found seated inside her vehicle, which was partially blocking the roadway.

"Because Locklear appeared disoriented and impaired, she was taken to a local CHP station and drug and alcohol tests were administered. She was cooperative. Alcohol was ruled out as a factor, but based on the officer's observations, we believe Locklear was under the influence of prescription medication."

The 47-year-old actress was taken to a local jail at around 7pm, where she was charged with driving under the influence of prescription medication.

She was released at 11pm on $5,000 bail.

Heather Locklear Arrested - Mug Shot

Heather Locklear was arrested on Saturday night, just two months after leaving an Arizona rehab center while battling anxiety and depression.

Little info is known at this time, but she was arrested and held in Santa Barbara County, according to the California Highway Patrol. She was released on Sunday.

UPDATE: TMZ has learned Heather Locklear was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.

Law enforcement officers say alcohol was not involved, however they are conducting tests to determine if Locklear was under the influence of drugs.

A resident reported Heather was “driving erratically” while pulling out of a parking lot. The California Highway Patrol then found Locklear’s car parked on a state highway and blocking a lane. After talking with her, the officer determined she was under the influence of something and arrested her.

She was released on her own recognizance, without having to post bail.

Richie Sambora Facing Child Endangerment Charge Or Not?

People magazine is reporting that Richie Sambora's drunk driving episode is resulting in two misdemeanor charges, DUI and child endangerment, since he was careening around Laguna Beach drunk in his Hummer with his 10-year-old daughter in the car.

Richie's girlfriend Jenn Mallini and his daughter's teenage cousin were also in the car during the incident. According to DUI lawyer Lawrence Taylor (who spoke with People magazine), "Assuming Sambora was driving with over a .08 blood-alcohol level with a passenger under 14 in the car, he's looking at probable jail time."

But, there's a bit of confusion going on, with TMZ reporting that "a significant number of officers" at the Laguna Beach PD believe that Sambora shouldn't be charged with child endangerment, since there was "no evidence of dangerous or erratic driving," the site states.

Hmm, well, the fact that he was driving a Hummer is enough for me. I don't even care if he was drunk or not. I highly doubt he was doing military maneuvers or hauling trees in Laguna Beach, which makes him pretty much a douche for driving a car like that.
