ELLEN DeGeneres says getting wed to long-term love Portia de Rossi has changed her life for the better.

"My heart just feels a little bit different, softer and somehow more in love," she told the Associated Press in an interview for anti-cancer messages she recently recorded. "I don't know how. But it just feels really romantic and lovely."

"I just feel really blessed," said DeGeneres, who recently came out against California's Proposition 8 prohibiting same-sex marriages. "I keep saying 'my girlfriend,' but I have to go to 'wife.'"

DeGeneres, 50, has recorded a collection of phone messages doubling as health wake-up calls for women.

The messages, part of October's national breast cancer awareness drive, are themed around "Help yourself fight breast cancer," and can be delivered by online request.

"I went into a studio and recorded a million different (versions): 'Hi, this is Ellen DeGeneres and your sister told me to remind you that it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month,'" she said. " 'Your teacher told me to call you,' 'Your neighbor told me to call you,' 'Your cousin,' 'Your mother.'"

DeGeneres said it's her annual mission to discover a new anti-breast cancer program to support. "My mom, 30 years ago, had a mastectomy. It's changed my life because I'm highly aware I'm vulnerable to this disease and I get a mammogram every year," she said.

Ellen DeGeneres is looking forward to her new wife Portia de Rossi cooking and cleaning.

The US talk show host - who wed Portia in an intimate sunset ceremony on Saturday (16.08.08) - is delighted to have tied the knot because the former 'Ally McBeal' actress will now do all the chores.

Ellen joked to People magazine: "What can I say? I'm the luckiest girl in the world. She is officially off the market. No one else gets her. And now she'll cook and clean for me."

Portia, who wore a pale pink backless halterneck gown designed by Zac Posen for the ceremony, was delighted to share her special day with her closest friends and family.

The 35-year-old star said: "The love we felt from the people surrounding us, and the love we have for each other, made it the most beautiful and emotional day. It's one that we'll never forget."

The couple, who have been dating since December 2004, exchanged handwritten vows in front of 19 guests, including Ellen's mother Betty and Portia's mother Margaret Rogers who flew in from Australia, at their home in Los Angeles.

Ellen and Portia sat on pillows during the ceremony, which was officiated by author Wayne Dyer.

Guests were treated to a vegan meal afterwards, which had been prepared by the couple's personal chef David Silberkleit.

Ellen and Portia hired Hollywood gourmet bakery Sweet Lady Jane to create a custom-made red velvet wedding cake.

Ellen admits the pair may not have a honeymoon because she is so busy filming her talk show.

She said: "I have to get back to work, this is it."

The couple, who have been dating since December 2004, tied the knot on Saturday, just weeks after California overturned its ban on same-sex marriages.

Portia, 35, is delighted to be a newlywed and says she feels 'amazing'.

Insiders say the ceremony, which was held at the Beverly Hills home 50-year-old Ellen shares with her bride, was an intimate affair with only a handful of guests.

‘They were hugging and kissing and looked ecstatic,’ an onlooker tells Us Weekly.

‘Ellen was helping Portia with the train of her [Zac Posen] dress, which looked like a Cinderella tutu.’

Ellen DeGeneres marries girlfriend Portia de Rossi

Washington - US television talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her long-time partner actress Portia de Rossi were married in Los Angeles, according to a news report Sunday.

In May, DeGeneres announced plans to marry de Rossi during a taping of her popular show, after California's Supreme Court ruled that a previous ban on gay marriage was unconstitutional.
The couple has been together since December 2004.

DeGeneres, 50, and de Rossi, 35, exchanged rings and handwritten vows during an 'intimate ceremony' Saturday night at their home in Los Angeles, People magazine reported.

The wedding was attended by 19 guests, including DeGeneres's mother Betty and de Rossi's mother Margaret Rogers, who flew in from Australia.

'She's taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like I've taught her. We've both changed and grown, and we just feel like, 'Oh, okay, this is completion',' People quoted DeGeneres say saying.

Gay couple will get hitched in California

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi plan to wed in the next two days.

The couple are said to be organising an intimate ceremony in California.

Ellen, 50, announced they were getting married in May, after the California Supreme Court overruled the state's eight-year ban on gay unions.

‘It's something that we've wanted to do and we want it to be legal and we are very, very excited,’ Ellen said earlier this year.

'I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the
right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous
that we don't all have the same rights.'

Ellen has been dating Portia, 35, since December 2004.
