Australian Supermodel Elle Macpherson, 44, topped the poll of 3,000 women carried out by British high street store Debenhams. Her nickname isn’t ‘The Body’ for nothing!

Elle rose to fame in the 80s mainly for her six cover appearances on Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue and has and has continued to grow thanks to successful stints working for Versace, Dior, Prada and many others.

She graced the covers of all the major fashion magazines and is also very successful as a business woman with her own fragrance and lingerie line.

Second place was ofcourse Cindy Crawford, 42, and and following in third was 58-year-old British star Twiggy - who shot to fame in the ’60s and was one of the original supermodels.

A Debenhams’ spokeswoman said:

“Women prefer curvier figures. They go for girls like Elle and Cindy. Most of the original supermodels feature in the top 10 which illustrates just how iconic their figures are.”

Other well nown models who feature include Kate Moss at number seven and Liz Hurley who came in at ninth place.
