Morgan Freeman suffered several broken bones on Sunday in a single-car accident just a few miles away from his home in Mississippi.
Authorities described as a “typical accident” although they needed the jaws of life and required Freeman and his passenger, Demaris Meyer, to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.
Freeman was driving Meyer’s 1997 Nissan Maxima in rural Mississippi when he lost control and the car flipped. Meyer was treated for her injuries and released.
His publicist Donna Lee said in a statement released this afternoon:
“Morgan has a broken arm, elbow and has minor shoulder damage but was in good spirits when I spoke with him a short time ago at the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center at the Med, a Level 1 Trauma Center at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis.”
“He is having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage. He says he’ll be OK and is looking forward to a full recovery.”
Incase you’re wondering who this Demaris Meyer is, TMZ found out that she’s 48 and is from Memphis, works as an executive assistant at Fed-Ex and is an avid gardener. A source tells them that Meyer is a very close friend of Morgan’s wife Myrna and is often seen at their house for get-togethers.
We wish him a full recovery..
