Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are set to marry on their daughter's first birthday.

The couple - who welcomed Harlow into the world on January 11 2008 - are reportedly keen to tie the knot on the landmark date to show their child how much they love each other.

A friend of the pair said: "They want to set an example for Harlow. Nicole and Joel are doing this to seal their love legally. They want the ceremony to coincide with Harlow's first birthday and be one big joyous occasion for everybody."

Socialite Nicole - whose adoptive father is singer Lionel Richie -and Good Charlotte rocker Joel are planning to sell pictures of the ceremony to a magazine.

However, the kind-hearted couple intend to donate any money they make from their special day to charity.

The pal added: "They've spoke about giving any money they get for photos of their wedding to Beyond Shelter, a homeless charity in Los Angeles that they work with. They also plan to give any presents away as well."

Nicole was recently reported to have been inspired to adopt a child after spending time with homeless children through her work with Beyond Shelter.

A source close to Nicole said: "Nicole is seriously looking into it and asking a lot of questions about adopting."Nicole has been visiting Beyond Shelter in Los Angeles two or three times a week and spends a couple of hours with homeless children. She loves being around them."

Nicole Richie's style war over

Nicole Richie and her former stylist Rachel Zoe have ended their feud.

'The Simple Life' star - who reduced Rachel to tears after calling her nicknames including "raisin face" and "lettuce cup" on her MySpace page - was seen happily speaking to the fashionista at a Los Angeles store opening earlier this week.

An onlooker said: "Nicole and Rachel introduced their partners to each other. They talked for 20 minutes about real estate and the economy."

Rachel was little known before her well-publicised war of words with Nicole.

She has since penned a book 'Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, and Everything Glamour' and has a TV show on US network Bravo entitled 'The Rachel Zoe Project'.

Rachel, 37, has always insisted it was her collaboration with Nicole which secured the star's position as one of the world's foremost fashion icons.

She said: "Nicole is now what people refer to as the big thing that happened. Everything went from nowhere to everywhere. Nicole was about creating a look.

"Because of her fashion sense, which was really my fashion sense, she became famous. It was a huge moment - Nicole became a style icon without being a star."

Nicole Richie feeds daugther Harlow homemade baby food

Motherhood has turned socialite NICOLE RICHIE into a culinary queen - she feeds daughter HARLOW homemade baby food.

Three years ago, the 27 year old confessed she was no good around the house, insisting she didn't clean and had no idea how to cook.

But, after becoming a first-time mum to baby Harlow in January (08), she has changed her approach to her home life and now purees steamed vegetables for the 10-month-old tot.

She tells People.com, "Food tastes better coming from your mum because it's made with love.

"Her first food was sweet potatoes and she loved it. She ate the whole thing and it was all over the place - in her hair, on her nose, everywhere!"

And Richie's boyfriend, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, is delighted with the star's efforts: "We talk about it all the time... I know exactly what's going into (Harlow's) body."

Musician cheats death as collision kills 4

Nicole Richie is said to be amazed that ex-fiancé DJ AM survived a freak plane crash at the weekend.

The musician – real name Adam Goldstein - was left critically injured when a jet he was travelling in burst into flames on a runway in South Carolina, killing 4.

Paris Hilton's ex, former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, was also on the flight and is being treated for severe burns.

‘[Nicole] wishes only the best for Adam and hopes he recovers from this,’ a pal tells Us Weekly. ‘She's horribly upset about the people who died.’

Adam and Travis, 32, had been performing together under the name TRVSDJ-AM at a free concert in Columbia.

Nicole, 27, dated Adam, 35, for 2 years until 2005.

And they're amazed how quickly she’s growing up.

‘She says “dada” when she wants to play. Wants to laugh. And “mama” is everything else.

'When we walk into a place, she waves to everyone.’

Nicole, 26, is determined not to shelter her from the paparazzi.

‘My priority is to make her unaware,’ she tells Extra. ‘She's eight months now.

'I can't put her in the infant seat and cover her. She'd definitely know something's going on.

'She wants to experience life and, as a mother, that's important.’

Nicole Richie and fiancé Joel Madden are alleged to have had a series of blazing rows.

The socialite stormed out after one particularly bad argument. She spent the night at her mum’s, before returning the next day, reports US Star.

Last month Nicole, 26, was rumoured to have fallen out with the 29-year-old Good Charlotte rocker after she saw pictures of Mary-Kate Olsen, 22, on his tour bus.

Lionel and Steve Miller of "Fly Like An Eagle", "Abracadabra", and every unimaginative musically inclined frat boy you ever met fame received Golden Note lifetime achievement awards for all their years in the biz.

"I never saw myself receiving any awards or doing anything," Steve Miller, 64, said during his acceptance speech. Miller took to the stage and performed six songs. SIX SONGS? Did these people know they were in for a Steve Miller show at the Kodak Theatre? It must have reeked of weed. Were people playing hackey sack and drinking Keystone in between bong hits?

Timbaland took the award for Songwriter of the Year, and Fergie and Gwen Stefani tied for the Song of the Year awards with "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "The Sweet Escape." Who voted for THAT song? If there was one pop song last year that could inspire a hack-n-slash, it was that one.

Lionel didn't perform, but he did scream at Nicole to go home and actually hang out with his grandchild. Ok, he didn't but he should have! Da Brat obviously isn't watching the kid like she was paid $20 to if she showed up! You know she's had to resort to that ever since she and Missy Elliot broke up years ago.
